Royal Sussex County Hospital

Wansbeck General Hospital

Wansbeck General Hospital is the first in the country to have MAT’s ECO-flow™ Stealth flush-to-ceiling UCV canopy, now installed in two of its theatres as part of a major refurbishment programme.

UCLH, Central London

MAT installed eight operating theatres in the purpose-built surgical centre within the new proton beam therapy unit at UCLH NHS Foundation Trust’s Grafton Way Building.

University of Warwick

Following a competitive tendering process, Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust appointed Medical Air Technology (MAT) to replace its existing containment level 3 (CL3) facilities.

Imperial College London

MAT was brought in after the hospital closed two of its operating theatres following concerns about the resilience of the air handling units.

Major theatre refurbishment

MAT is the main contractor on Wansbeck Hospital’s current refurbishment project, which sees the turnkey upgrade of six operating theatres including recovery, clean corridor and adjacent auxiliary areas. 

Preparing operating theatres

A return to normal use

MAT FM has been awarded a major contract with a leading private healthcare provider to change the HEPA filters in 13 of its theatres while they are not in use during the coronavirus pandemic. MAT FM already holds the 3-year service contract for all sites in the network, maintaining the operating theatres in optimum condition with regular visits and 24/7 support.

MAT is proud to have been part of the team that delivered the new £25m treatment centre for Queen’s Hospital Burton, installing two ultraclean operating theatres as part of the centre’s state-of the-art facilities for orthopaedic surgery.

iSIGHT Clinic

Upgrade of ventilation and controls

iSIGHT has always placed great emphasis on the importance of offering its patients the most technologically advanced treatment arena. When ventilation and temperature control in the operating theatre had to be upgraded to bring it in line with the latest standards outlined in HTM 03-01, iSIGHT needed to find a specialist contractor that would be able to take on this complex project.

MAT was commissioned by the board to design a scheme for the major refurbishment of an existing laboratory, having worked successfully together on earlier operating theatre projects.

Medical Air Technology (MAT) recently completed an operating theatre project at Ramsay Health Care’s Renacres Hospital in Ormskirk. The hospital is committed to ongoing investment in advanced medical technology and decided to bring its operating theatre suites up to the latest standards.

Countess of Chester Hospital

Theatre refurbishment and upgrade

Medical Air Technology (MAT) has completed another successful theatre refurbishment, this time at the Countess of Chester Hospital. This 600-bed large district general hospital, operated by the Countess of Chester NHS Foundation Trust, serves patients from Western Cheshire, Ellesmere Port, Neston and North Wales.

Fairfield Independent Hospital

UCV canopy, lay-up cabinet and disinfection

MAT was appointed after Fairfield Independent Hospital carried out a formal tender process and the board approved its business case, which demonstrated a clear understanding of the requirements and project drivers, supported by straightforward, concise project proposals that gave cost certainty and evidence of flexibility of installation to meet surgical demands.

Nuffield Health Chester

Two new ECO-flow™ UCV canopies

Medical Air Technology (MAT) has installed two ECO-flow™ ultraclean operating canopies at Nuffield Health Chester, the Grosvenor Hospital, working with main contractor DD Porter Construction.

H2O2 Decontamination

Effective disinfection of sensitive areas

MAT FM is now able to offer hydrogen peroxide decontamination of operating theatres, recovery areas, critical care, sterile services, aseptic suites, cleanrooms and containment laboratories. It can be carried out by our trained service engineers prior to handover of a completed new build or refurbishment project, or as part of a regular periodic maintenance proposition, or as an emergency call out.

University Hospital Lewisham

A turnkey refurbishment project

Medical Air Technology (MAT) recently completed work on Theatres 3 and 4 in the Riverside Treatment Centre at University Hospital Lewisham, upgrading them from conventional to ultraclean as part of a Private Finance Initiative (PFI) lifecycle and upgrade programme.
