The MAT team is busy at the University of Plymouth, refitting a CL3 laboratory that forms part of the Brain Tumour Research Centre.
We're currently busy at the University of Plymouth, carrying out remedial works to a CL3 containment laboratory. The alterations will make the lab suitable for use within the university's internationally-renowned Brain Tumour Research Centre of Excellence, which carries out research into low-grade brain tumours. The university is one of five Centres of Excellence supported by the Brain Tumour Research charity.
When MAT Project Manager Mark Whittle got chatting to the university's fundraising team, he shared that he too has supported Brain Tumour Research, recently participating in a demanding fundraising walk around three Lancashire reservoirs to raise money for the charity that is doing so much to help a childhood friend who was recently diagnosed with a brain tumour.
The Brain Tumour Research Centre of Excellence at the University of Plymouth is working to improve the diagnosis and treatment of children and adults with low-grade brain tumours, including schwannoma, meningioma and glioma.
It is one of Europe's leading research institutes for low-grade brain tumours and proactively works with national and international groups to swiftly translate their research into clinical benefit for patients.
