Another design-and-build project reaches a key stage.

We are part-way through a full design-and-build turnkey project for a private hospital in the north-east of England, encompassing the complete refit of two existing ultraclean theatres, along with upgrade works to a third theatre.

Theatre 1 is now complete, with the MAT installations team successfully undertaking electrical infrastructure upgrades as well as overcoming access challenges due to the building layout, all while working within a live hospital environment under tight time constraints. Work on Theatre 2 starts this week, followed by Theatre 3.

 A design and build project is a construction procurement method where a single entity (the contractor) is responsible for both the design and construction phases under one contract. This approach provides a single point of accountability for the client, streamlining communication, reducing risk, and speeding up project delivery.
