Meeting the demands of the modern operating theatre

modern operating theatre

Technological advances in the operating theatre mean a 'one size fits all' approach to canopy design doesn't always work...

In this hospital project, the new hybrid operating theatre allows for multiple clinical specialities and includes a C-arm imaging scanner for taking x rays during surgery.

The scanner requires tracks, which, as you can see from the photo, run through the flush-to-ceiling ultraclean ventilation (UCV) canopy MAT installed above the patient bed.

The panels around a traditional canopy would inhibit free movement of the scanner, so this bespoke flush-to-ceiling option, which achieves the same aseptic conditions as the panelled option, is the perfect solution.

The fan boxes, attenuations and ductwork are all stored in the plant room above the theatre.

The project has now been handed over successfully, and we look forward to sharing more details with you soon.
