Handover of the refurbished Theatre 2 at Milton Keynes University Hospital (MKUH) marks the completion of another successful total turnkey design and build project.
MAT was brought in by Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as Principal Designer and Contractor for the refurbishment of Theatre 2 and its upgrade to an ultraclean facility, suitable for orthopaedic surgery.
An established market-leader in the field of healthcare critical ventilation, MAT was awarded the contract as it offered a short lead-in period and provided a robust technical submission.
In addition to the major upgrade of Theatre 2, MAT designed and installed a centralised UPS system to serve all four of the hospital's theatres and recovery, and upgraded the electrical infrastructure to support the new installation. A new room layout also means teams can respond quicker in emergencies.
Anthony Marsh, Director of Facilities and Estates at MKUH, says, "We're absolutely delighted to have completed a full refresh of our Trauma Theatre, incorporating a state-of-the-art Ultra Clean Ventilation (UCV) system and a comprehensive modern refit. This investment reflects our ongoing commitment to providing the highest standards of care in a safe, efficient, and future-ready environment."
The project went so well that the Trust has also appointed MAT to carry out the refurbishment and upgrade of Theatre 1 to bring it up to the same high standard.
